Marty Brill and Felix Thau

Please join our Chisuk Emuna members, Marty and Felix, as they share their experiences volunteering with the IDF before and after October 7th. During these fraught times, it is important to hear different perspectives. We hope to offer other programs on Israel and Gaza in the future.
​
Felix Thau is a retired Administrative Law Judge, who was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prior thereto, he was a lawyer also with the Commonwealth. He began volunteering through Volunteers For Israel, USA and volunteered through VFI-USA four times. Each time, he spent about two weeks working on an Israeli military base as a civilian and his last trip was immediately after October 7th.
Marty Brill is a business, agriculture and international trade consultant at the Penn State Small Business Development Center. He has lived with his wife Debbie in Harrisburg for over 29 years where they raised their 2 children. Marty has degrees from Georgetown University and the School of Oriental & African Studies at London University. He speaks Hebrew, some French and Arabic. Marty has been to Israel 16 times and will go again to work with Sar El.

“The Fire Within Us” was the name of the campaign that re-envisioned and reconstructed our congregation following a devastating fire that ruined our previous spiritual home in 2009. The Fire Within Us is also the title of a book, co-edited by Ezra Match, Lara Match and Rabbi Ron Muroff. The presenters in this series are among those who shared reflections in that book. Please join us for this interactive and personal exploration of Torah and our lives.

Chisuk Emuna's Strength Through Action Team (STAT) is collecting school supplies to benefit the Silver Academy and Foose Elementary School. Shrinking budgets have made it difficult for teachers to buy supplies for their classrooms, with many paying for supplies out of their own pocket.
