WINTER SUPPLY DRIVE

Imagine that it is 25°F, sleeting, and you are homeless. Please join us to help those in need. Chisuk Emuna’s Strength Through Action Team (STAT) is collecting gently used winter clothing and supplies.

 

A collection box is located in the synagogue’s front vestibule. Please drop off your items anytime between 9 am – 2 pm, Monday thru Friday beginning Thursday November 14th and ending Thursday December 5th.

 

If you wish to make a contribution in lieu of donating items, please send your check payable to Chisuk Emuna Congregation, 3219 Green Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 and note "Winter Drive" in the memo field. Or donate online at chisukemuna.org and note in honor of Winter Drive.

  • Practical/Sturdy Winter Jackets (hoods, longer, heavier…ones that keep you warm and dry for a long time) Sizes M-XL

  • Hooded Sweatshirts, Sizes M-XL

  • Sweatpants (M-XL) and Jeans for Men (32-38)

  • Sweatpants/Leggings (M-XL) and Jeans for Women (8-14)

  • T-shirts short and long sleeve, Men’s M-XL

  • Boots and Sneakers (Men’s size 9-12 and Women’s size 7-9)

  • Backpacks (student style with wide, sturdy straps)

  • Heavy men's and women's sock

  • Hats and gloves

  • Men's and women's underwear

  • Hand warmers                          

Sisterhood Book Discussion

Sunday, January 26th

Open to all congregants.

The Sisterhood book club will read Anita Diamant's Red Tent and discuss it in January. In the Bible, Dinah's life is only hinted at in a brief and violent detour within the more familiar chapters of the Book of Genesis that tell of her father, Jacob, and his twelve sons. The Red Tent begins with the story of the mothers--Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah--the four wives of Jacob. They love Dinah and give her gifts that sustain her through childhood, a calling to midwifery, and a new home in a foreign land.
